Transportation in Goa
Travelling around Goa is fairly easy. There are various transport facilities that are available in Goa. To go around in Goa one can hire them on a full day basis or can go around from one place to another by different other modes of transportation.

Car, buses, bikes, auto rickshaws are some of the transportation available in Goa.

Also available at quite a few places around Goa are the ferries, also known as the ferryboat in which you have to cross a small river to get to your destination. These ferries carry people and cars from one shore to another.
By Air
Goa is well connected by airline services to most major cities in India and especially the Gulf countries. A number of chartered flights land in Goa from UK and other European countries too. The Dabolim airport is about 30 kms from the capital city of Panaji and is located near the port town of Vasco-da-Gama.
By Rail
The Konkan Railway makes Goa easily accessible by rail. The rail route also has trains which travel past Mumbai to other northern areas of India right upto Delhi as well as down south to Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala.

Goa has two major railway stations — Margao and Vasco-da-Gama, both located in the southern area of the state. Besides the two main stations, the trains usually halt for a few minutes at a number of other smaller stations in Goa.
By Road
Goa is connected with all the major towns in India via the National Highways NH4A, NH17 and NH17A. The Goan Transport Corporation, Kadamba and the private buses operate everywhere from Goa to most towns and cities in neighbouring states from their main stand at Panjim, Mapusa, Margao and destinations in the adjoining states of Maharashtra and Karnataka.
By Bus:

The extensive road network in Goa
provides the tourists with an access to all local and important tourist places in Goa. The buses are either state owned or run by private companies and are readily available at the bus stands and all major tourist places and locations within Goa.

 
By Car:

If you are interested in exploring Goa on
your own & at your own pace, then a car is a very good option. Cars, both self & chauffer driven are available on rent. Besides rented cars there are tourist taxis which are available near most hotels, airport, resorts, local taxi stands & at all other tourist attractions.

By Motorcycle /Bike:

One of the most unique modes of
transport known as a 'pilot' in Goa is the yellow motorcycle taxi. This is the fastest and most cost-effective option for getting about in and around Goa. For the fun loving tourists the hired motorbikes, moped, scooters and bicycles are the best mode to explore Goa. These are available in the cities as well as near most beach areas.

 
By Auto Rickshaw

The three-wheeled auto-rickshaw
taxi are the quaint essentially mode of transport, painted yellow and black, take two to three passengers and are quite speedy on the crowded roads of Goan towns. These are very cheap as compared to taxis for travelling around the town. They are easily available at the Airport, the railway station and the bus terminus.
